I've never been on a fishing charter before, how should I get started?
Captain Mike is ready to share his passion of fishing no matter how much experience you have. So don't hesitate to book your fishing trip with him. If you have any questions about your trip be sure to call and ask him any questions you have before your trip. Also feel free to discuss with Captain Mike what you'd like to target on your Charter.
Do I need a fishing license to fish on a charter boat?
No. When you book a fishing trip with Captain Mike, he provides the appropriate fishing licenses and have them onboard when you arrive.
How do I know if the boat is available the dates I want?
If you book a fishing charter a week or so ahead of your desired date , we are almost always able to accommodate your request. The sooner you schedule your trip, the more likely we can make sure you get the dates you desire.
Does booking a charter require a deposit?
A specified deposit amount is required at booking, and the balance is due the day of the trip. there is a 72 hour cancellation policy. If a cancellation is made 72 hours prior to the departure date, and time, the deposit will be refunded in full to our customer. If a cancellation is made after 72 hours the customer will be billed the remaining balance of the charter as we have blacked out this specific date and time for you. Cancellations due to inclement weather is up to the Captain's discretion. If the Captain cancels due to weather the deposit will be refunded in full to the customer. Or you may opt to rebook at a later date.

What is your CANCELLATION POLICY?
You can avoid any cancellation fees by cancelling your trip within 72 hours (3 days) notice. After that we will charge the customer the full balance of the trip minus the deposit. If the Captain cancels you trip due to safety ,or weather you will receive 100% refund.

What should I bring with me on the boat?
Be sure to bring food, additional drinks, your camera, a hat, and sunblock ( non spray ). You may bring a small cooler on board for your drinks and food. We recommend you do bring a small cooler to take home your filleted and cleaned catch.
Is the boat safe for me and my family?
YES!! Captain Mike is Federally licensed by the United States Coast Guard to take passengers out. He will give you a briefing at the beginning of your trip about where to find life jackets, throwables, and fire extinguisher in the unlikely event of an emergency. If ever in the event that conditions become unsafe for his passengers, He will give you a full refund.
Where is the dock?
When you book a charter Captain Mike will send you an email with directions to the dock.
How much gratuity do I give the Captain?
Customarily 15-20% is standard. When all is said and done, keep in mind that your fishing charter captain works day in and day out to share their love of fishing. Sure, everyone has a bad day – but for the most part they are working hard to get you a memorable day of fishing. It’s all about the love of the sport for them, and sharing with anglers the joy of fishing, hopefully getting you hooked for years to come.

Maintaining and operating safe, properly rigged fishing boats is expensive. We do all we can to keep our costs down while still giving you the best value for your money. That is why fishing licenses and cleaning and filleting your catch is included in the price of every charter at Down Range Charters LLC. You will find that the day he provides you and the excitement of catching fish is well worth the experience.
